The project's design is based on the theme of "Central Park," and it employs a method of "Introduction, elucidation, transition, and summary" to create a unique park experience for visitors. The design team, led by Kris Lin and Jiayu Yang, has transformed every inch of the 1500㎡ space into a poetic expression of nature. The project's unique properties lie in its ability to utilize the natural landscape resource of the adjacent 113.4-hectare urban ecological park.
One of the key elements of the design is the glazed leaf installation art that runs through the entire space, creating a progressive charm. The leaves begin to fall from the side of the foyer, move to the ceiling, and finally land in the foyer pool. This orderly layout gives the impression of leaves being blown into the space by the wind, adding an artistic touch to the space and serving as a transition to the next area.
The design process involved several challenges, primarily revolving around creating a reception center that provides a park experience. The team successfully overcame these challenges by using the "Central Park" theme and the "Introduction, elucidation, transition, and summary" design method. The design journey begins with a pavilion, followed by falling leaves, transitioning to lake water, and finally returning to a solitary tree.
The project was initiated in April 2019 and completed in January 2020. The design was influenced by the natural landscape of Xi'an's largest urban ecological park. Every plant and piece of land in the park served as an inspiration for the designers, resulting in a design that beautifully captures the essence of the park.
The Central Park project is a testament to Kris Lin's innovative approach to design and his ability to create spaces that are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing and in harmony with nature. The project's success is reflected in its recognition with the Golden A' Design Award, a prestigious accolade granted to designs that display extraordinary excellence and significantly impact the world with their desirable characteristics.
